Week 9th February - 15th February 2025
1. Last weekend’s special collection for parish expenses amounted to €2,340. Your generosity is much appreciated.
2. Monday 10th February, Feast of St Paul Shipwreck: this is a public holiday and day of obligation. Mass schedule is the same as Sunday’s. The 6.30pm Mass on Sunday is valid for this day of obligation.
3. Sponsors Club: Application forms are available near the church doors, to join or renew membership in the parish’s Sponsors Club.
4. “My Daily Gospel”, which contains all the gospels for Masses throughout 2025, together with reflections on the readings, is available from the parish office and parish bookshop at €4.25.
5. This month’s Parish outing is on Thursday 13th February, going to Bahrija. Departure at 8.30am, from in front of the church.
6. On the occasion of St Valentine’s Day, the Visual/NonVisual Network are inviting all married couples for an evening in the Parish Hall on the 14th February at 7.30pm.
7. Entry to Church Schools in Malta in September 2025: applicants from State and independent schools may apply online from 4-27th February. Detailed information is available on the website: www.knisja.mt; click on Church Schools.
8. Events during the Jubilee Year
Tuesday, 11th February 10.00am: Jubilee of the Sick – the Blessed Virgin of Lourdes, Basilica of Christ the King, Paola: Mass with the participation of the sick, physicians, nurses, carers and volunteers who accompany vulnerable persons in Lourdes.
9. Saturday 1st March will be a special and historic day for our parish: during the 6.30pm mass that day, the Archbishop Mons Charles Scicluna will consecrate our church. In preparation for this occasion, there will be three meetings held in the church, on Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th and Friday 28th February, after the 6.30pm mass.
The themes of these meetings are:
a) What does Consecration mean?
b) The consecration of the Temple in Scripture
c) The meaning of the symbols and rites of consecration.
During the celebration, the Archbishop will unveil a commemorative marble.
